When the CDC dropped their latest announcement urging citizens to wear “homemade cloth face coverings” in pubic I imminently knew they weren’t talking to my Black ass.
White queers do NOT get a gold star for being able to acknowledge that white privilege exists. Especially if they do not take any actions to betray their whiteness and their privilege to create and uphold spaces that prioritize and uplift Black folks and other people of color.
This shit is getting played out bruh…
Returning back home to South Africa, I began to truly appreciate what I had previously taken for granted in a majority-Black country.
It never ceases to amaze me how extensive and invasive white supremacy is in America. It’s everywhere. White supremacy is deeply embedded in all structures of American culture, and to be honest, our education system is its number one weapon.
Like Newton’s 3rd law, every racist oppressive action must be met with an equal and opposite anti-racist action in order to achieve equilibrium.
